The Elders of Mayflower Church . . .

In our denomination (the Presbyterian Church, USA) each local church is governed by elders who are nominated and elected by the church family and who are moderated by the pastor. This board of elders is called the "Session," and the Session is responsible for everything in the life of the local church. At Mayflower Presbyterian Church we presently have nine elders serving on Session, all of whom love our Lord Jesus with all their hearts. We are most fortunate to have the quality of leadership we do, for these people truly care for the well-being of all in our church family as they seek to know and do the will of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Deacons Ministries

God is continually reshaping the Deacons to be ever more complete and effective in serving Him and the needs of His flock at Mayflower.

Deacons' Ministry . . . In Service to the Lord and His People

Meals Program: This is a wonderful, loving expression of transitional support for new mothers and fathers, and those confronted by illness, accident, loss of a loved one, or an unexpected disruption in the home or other life circumstances.

Card Ministry: Throughout the year hundreds of cards are sent out by the Deacons to give support and share in the joys of the Family. This is one of the ways we can say you are part of the church family and we are here to help and support you where we can.

New Births: This celebration is recognized with a card and a lullaby tape for our new mothers. We also recognize our new grandparents and share with them in their joy as well.

Home Visits: For those members of the Family who become shut-ins for one reason or another this ministry brings warm, personal communication to them. It has proven to be a time of great blessing for both the shut-ins as well as the Deacons.

Deacons' Fund: This fund is specifically directed to serving extra ordinary congregational needs. The fund is sustained by periodic generous gifts from our church family as well as from a special offering on the first Sunday of each month.

Deacons' Corner: Our contribution to the monthly Mayflower newsletter is the Deacons' Corner, which keeps the congregation updated with information concerning our projects and a focus on our Deacon Ministries.

Holiday Giving: We give bountiful Thanksgiving baskets to needy families; we have a Christmas Giving Tree that allows needy families to receive a gift certificate; and we participate in a community project that prepares Christmas Stockings for homeless men in our community. This is always a very rewarding time of the year for the participants in these outreach activities.
